Structure
The work is structures into five main sections. These are being constructed throughout June, to September. In each section I have combined and mixed the sonic and music materials in a manner similar to a visual artist - using colour, form and movement. They are all placed into a computer hard disc recording/sampling process where they are experimented with, sped up, slowed down, turned upside down, inside out, and formed into a new sonic sensory experience.
For the final sections of the work I am collecting rain dance and water celebration music from various Indigenous Peoples of the world. These will be juxtaposed with the sounds of drought and nature of water as an increasingly valuable commodity. The nature of life being based on water is explored, as well as the contrasts of soft and hard rainfall, of holy sacred water and acid rain, of the body and its relationship to water. These realities of our shared world and the memories of awareness of water and the songs can re-awaken our world to more sensuous and beautiful ways to live.
